About the competition

The second Aylagir

On October 4, 2025, the National Agrarian University of Armenia held a “Aylagir” scientific codingSecond, thecontest: The purpose of the contest identify and build the capacity of talented schoolchildren, encourage active and dedicated schools and teachers, and foster creative and develop innovative thinking, develop skills for collaboration and teamwork, as well as deep logical thinking and thought development.

"Aylagir" Contest promotes the development of design learning of general education standards by enabling pupils in a team format and with the support of teachers, to pose and solve problems with programming tools. Programming in the competition is not seen as an end in itself skill, but as an effective wayto address different issues.

Indicators

QUALITY INDICATORS

Qualitative description (applying to all teams)

Understanding and context of the issue
  • Issue Relevance — Most teams have chosen real and local issues related to the school environment, issues in community life, or environmental challenges. Problem-solving has become more scholarly and grounded.
  • Purpose clarity — Teams have learned to clearly articulate their design goals, linking them to expected resolution outcomes, and have become more specific with clearly measurable results.
Analysis and methodology
  • Data usage — Students used observations, measurements, or data collectionin an effort to connect solutions to real-world data. This approach has significantly deepened analytical thinking.
  • Rationale structure — Teams began to demonstrate causal analysisby explaining the causes of the problem and suggesting valid solutions. This shows a maturation of the scientific approach.
Technology solution and innovation
  • Tool matching — The technologies used (Sci-Snap, Python, sensor tools) largely corresponded to the nature of the problem. Teams learned to distinguish the tool from the target and choose an effective method.
  • Code structure — Codes and software solutions have become more readable and interpreted: teams have begun to adhere to the basic principles of software culture: simple structure and explanation.
  • Innovative approach — A significant part of the projects involved creative ideas and independently designed solutions. Innovation has more often manifested itself not only technically, but also ideologically.
Team process and environment
  • Derivation and Collaboration — Teams demonstrated clear roleplay and effective communication. Teachers and mentors contributed to independent decision-making.
  • Organizing your work — The workflow was largely organized in planned phases, with teams learning to outline goals, follow deadlines, and document results.
  • Competitive and collaborative culture — The competition created a healthy competitive environment where collaboration and mutual aid prevailed, and this contributed to the development of team responsibility and ethics.
Outcome and application
  • Practical application — Projects have become more feasible with solutions used in schools, labs, or communities. Many teams have tried to create small pilots or demonstration models.
  • Integrity of work — Design packages have become comprehensive, including code, slides, videos, and summaries. This is a testament to the maturation of the teaching experience.
  • Ethics and transparency — The Blind Assessment Principle has been followed, and teams have followed copyright and data security protocols.
Developing and industry skills
  • Scientific thinking and analysis — Students have developed a science-based approachto learning to base their ideas on data and facts.
  • Innovation and creativity — Creative thinking has been actively demonstrated through self-guided ideas and new technological solutions.
  • Public presentation and communication — Teams have gained public speaking and presentation experienceby submitting their projects in a competitive format.
  • Real-life connection — Projects have been linked to students' day-to-day experiences and community issues, which have reinforced the motivation to learn.
  • Personal and professional growth — Participation has helped build self-confidence, responsibility, and professional interests.
  • Engineering and design thinking — Students have acquired skills in design planning, testing, and engineering thinking.
  • Community pride and example — Teams have become anexample of the success of school communities, raising interest in the STEM industry.
